Fall is in the air

I love the fall. The cool weather. Kids are back in school. The leaves change colors. Wearing warmer clothing.

The fall also makes me sad. I think about the loss of 9-11. New York City. Washington DC. Twin Towers. Lives lost. Terror in America. 9-11 also pulled many of us together.

I think about the kids in Newtown. Sandy Hook will never be the same and the tragedy that occurred on December 14, 2012 will never be forgotten.

The fall is a bittersweet time for me. I hope we can fill it with better memories in the future.

The Pope visited South Korea

The Pope recently visited South Korea and called for reconciliation between North and South Korea. I often wonder if we will see this happen in our lifetime. North Korea needs humanitarian aid. Their people are dying, but they don’t want to admit it. The South is afraid to disrupt the peace. The North has strong weapons. Nuclear weapons and rockets.

I hope we see true peace between North and South Korea. I hope that we can live in tranquility.

Will Ebola reach Korea?

I don’t think it’s a question of whether Ebola is going to reach Korea. It’s a question of when. When will the Ebola virus reach Korea? There are countless Korean missionaries all around the world, including in West Africa. If they get sick, then wouldn’t Korea want them returned so that they can receive appropriate medical care?

The Ebola outbreak is causing lots of fear around the world. The CDC has issued the highest level alert concerning the Ebola outbreak. Will this outbreak reach a global epidemic?

The Korean ferry disaster is becoming a national nightmare

The Korean ferry disaster that occurred one month ago is quickly becoming a national nightmare. The captain of the ship is being charged with murder. Captain Lee Joon-seok initially told passengers to stay in their cabins and took about half an hour to issue an evacuation order. Other crew members are being charged with negligence and abandoning passengers in need. Meanwhile, Koreans are not traveling. They’re canceling their vacations. The country’s tourism business has seen a dramatic drop. There are still 23 bodies missing from the ferry accident and at this point, I doubt they’ll find them. Over 300 people died.

The story is very depressing. It’s troubling for the families and the entire nation of Korea. Let’s pause to pray for Korea.

Newtown students begin new school year

I’m praying for all the Newtown students who are starting a new school year. It’s been 8 months since the shooting incident.
Sandy Hook Elementary School

The world is different now. Things will never feel the same. You won’t forget, but keep looking forward. Things will get better.

God bless all the families in Newtown.
